Public boat timetable
Timetables and fares are available in the official website www.navigazionelaghi.it
As the timetable is not very easy to read, I suggest you to visit the “Navigazione dei Laghi website” and insert the departure and arrival.
tickets and rates
Tickets must be purchased before boarding at the ticket offices located near the dock: they open at least 20 minutes before any departure, in high season (May to October) I recommend to get to the tickets office at least 30 minutes before the boat departure to avoid long ceues
Como, Bellagio, Varenna, Menaggio and Tremezzo — have ticket offices right near the pier, if at the dock there is no possibility to buy the tickets you can buy them onboard with an additional cost.
Credit card are accepted at any ticket office and on board of any motor-ship of the fleet.
Boat tickets online:
At the moment, you can only book regular ferry rides online (so NO CAR FERRY or FAST BOAT). It works for one-way, return, and daily tickets. Booking online is a good idea in busy months if you want to lock in your spot ahead of time.
Ships accessibility:
If you have a disability, you can always buy your ticket directly on board — no extra fees. For more info on accessibility visit here the official website.
Credit card are accepted at any ticket office and on board of any motor-ship of the fleet.
Boats run all year round but from October to around March or April (the low season), there are fewer rides — especially between Bellagio and Lecco.

Traveling with luggage
If you’re wondering whether you can bring your luggage on the Lake Como ferries — yes, in most cases it’s totally fine. I’ve done it myself, and you’ll see lots of people getting on board with backpacks, suitcases, and shopping bags.
That said, during busy times (especially in summer), the boats can get quite full, and luggage space might be a bit tight. So if you’re traveling in high season, just be prepared for that — maybe arrive a little early.
As for really big or bulky items, they might not be accepted on every ferry. Standard luggage is usually no problem, but if you’re carrying something oversized, it’s best to double-check before you go. You can look up the “Embarking baggage” info on the Navigazione Laghi website for the official rules.
In general, though, for most travelers with normal bags, it’s smooth sailing.
My tips:
If you’re staying in Bellagio and want to spend a day exploring the beautiful villas around the lake, I really recommend getting the daily pass for €15. It lets you hop on and off at Bellagio, Varenna, Menaggio, Tremezzo, and Lenno. It doesn’t include Como or other towns, but it’s perfect if you want to see the highlights of Lake Como in one day — super convenient and great value.
If it’s a rainy day, don’t miss the chance to visit Lake Como and get the slow boat from Bellagio to Colico or to Como.
This gives you the possibility to slowly admire the beauty of the nature of Lake Como shores.
